Despite the marked downturn in the market we sold two
of our foals at the December sales for £85000 and £72000 which
was very pleasing. Obviously foals do not command such prices unless they
are well behaved and show themselves off to their maximum ability.
The sales preparation unit is the responsibility of Claire Loyd who is
also Richards partner. Why not join the growing number of vendors who
use Mickley stud to prepare their horses for the sales.
The best price last year was achieved at the Tattersalls Sale
when the first 3yo by Beat All
that we sold realised 100,000 euros to Willie Mullins.
A home bred colt by Beat All which we sold as a foal for £25000
was reoffered as a yearling and sold for £57000 to Richard Hannon
making his vendor a tidy profit, its very encouraging to see the keen
demand for his stock.
This is the third year we have produced horses from Mickley Stud but
in the previous fourteen years at Helshaw Grange Richard bred four Group
1 fillies and purchased the Irish Guineas winner Saoire as a foal
for £4000 reselling her as a yearling for 65000 euros.
We also bred the fillies Ardbrea Lady by Overbury and other black
type horses we have sold by Overbury include Over Siberia, Overbury
Affair and Publican.
