Beat All Central Park  Captain Gerrard  Multiplex Overbury

We are proud to stand Captain Gerrard who will replace Needwood Blade who we have leased to stand in Sweden. Captain Gerrard has been purchased in conjunction with an Australian stud and he will be shuttling to Australia to stand in the Southern Hemisphere covering season. A precocious horse who won five at 2yo including a G3 and two listed races. A front-runner who’s tenacity and will to win was evident. He will stand at £3500 SLF.

Captain Gerrard has made a great start with his first mares scanned in foal. He was very well received at the Newmarket stallion parade with many positive comments on his quality and how he is certain to produce precious stock.

Once again our veterinary surgeons have agreed to offer a set fee of £200 per mare for all Reproductive veterinary work whilst your mare is at stud. Please contact Richard Kent if you wish to avail yourself of this offer.

You may have seen in the racing post our new racehorse ownership scheme where two beautifully bred fillies by Multiplex are leased as yearlings by Mickley stud to a syndicate of ten people and raced by them at two and three with all prize money going to the syndicate members. This way you can be involved with their progress from gangly teenager to consummate athlete. See MultiplexRacing.com for full details.

The pre-training yard run by ex jockey Steve Brookshaw of Lord Gillene fame, is going from strength to strength here we break in yearlings and get them cantering before they go to their trainers. Michael Owen, the England international is among the clients who have all their yearlings broken in here. Despite the recession we sold foals to £55,000 and sales preparation is becoming an Increasing part of the studs business. We have constructed another 30 boxes this year giving us over 150.

Overbury won the Whitbred silver salver for the leading English based jumping stallion by earnings last year and this year was awarded the Horse and Hound cup as the leading British sire of chasers, he has now sired the winners of over 260 races. Ballyfitz, Simon and Kealshore Boy amongst others will keep his name prominent in the big races and this year Richard Kent has decided to set his fee by application so ring him and see what we can do for you.

An Overbury 4yo easily toped the inaugural Goffs (Ire) NH Breeze up sale. Consigned by Dromond and sold by Philip Dempsey he made 75,000 euros. His dam, Tapua Taranata had only bred two winners previously so it was his looks and athleticism that made him the stand out horse at the sale.

On the first day of the Irish flat season the Overbury filly Ardbrae Lady won the Group 3 European Breeders Fund Stakes over a mile, following up her second place in the Irish 1000 Gns last year, her sister is one of the multiplex racing yearlings. It was gratifying to see the 4yo Overbury gelding Kealshore Boy make 290,000 Gns at the Doncaster May sales. He had won two bumpers and Graham Wylie purchased him.

Beat All has sired the winners of 59 races and over £350,000 on the flat with foals making up to 27000 euros. Lowther has won two sprint handicaps and Beat the Bell (OR92) has won 4 for Jamie Osborne. Dani California has won six including the Irish Cesarewitch. Over jumps he has had two bumper winners and thirteen hurdle winners so far, the very promising Alexander Beatle was described by Henrietta Knight as a horse with a big future.

Central Park has now sired the winners of 96 races and £669,000. My Central won a G3 in Nad Al Sheba and Vita Mia owned by Lady Lonsdale and Mickley stud has won three to date. He had his first Bumper winner Rupert Lamb trained by Sally Hall who stormed home by eight lengths in what looks like a good Bumper. Timeform commentated:- Rupert Lamb 99+ made an encouraging start and should go on to better things, readily beating a trio that themselves had shown promise in similar events, impressing with how he travelled held up and bursting clear in the final furlong after briefly being denied a run up the rail; his dam is from a family of useful winners over jumps. Rupert Lamb is being aimed at the Aintree bumper.

Multiplex had a great start covering 100 mares including some from France. His book included half sister to Oaks winner Look Here, dams of Obe Gold, Dhaniata, Winker Watson etc. Danehill continues to be a massive influence with no less than nine of his sons at stud at Coolmore including Rock of Gibraltar and Danehill Dancer. His first foals are receiving excellent reviews and have sold up to £30000 to top bloodstock agent Bobby O'Ryan.
